Day 1: Airport Pick-up & City Tour!

Warm arrival and welcome assistance at Entebbe International airport. Transfer to Kampala and embark on a City Tour. Break for Lunch, check-in at Kampala Sheraton for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Kampala – Queen Elizabeth N.P.

At 0630hrs, meet, greet and assist at Sheraton Hotel -Kampala. After briefing and individual introduction, get on board and start your journey driving westward. Initial stop at the Equator Point for a chance to stand in the Imaginary middle of the planet for a photo-opportunity. You will also be privileged to attend and demonstration that shows the variation in the direction of flow of water at the Equator, a few degrees north and a few degrees south!! Continue and break for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre; you will also have the occasion to visit a museum that comprises of traditional items of the indigenous communities. Proceed through Ankole farmlands to finally access Queen Elizabeth National Park via Katungulu gate. The descent divulges the panoramic beauty of the park dotted with trees, crater lakes and lakes; George & Edward.

After check-in transfer to the pier/dock to arrive on time for your evening boat-ride on Kazinga Channel. A thread of water that joins lakes George and Edward, Kazinga Channel is lifeline/habitat to Nile Crocodiles, arguably the highest concentration of Hippos on planet Earth, different species of Egrets, Goliath Herons, and Saddle - billed Storks, African Fish Eagles, Egyptian Gees and Cormorants among other bird species. The channel is a source of for Elephants, buffaloes and many other bird-species. Return to the dock and exploit the remaining part of the day in the wild. Meals and bed at Mweya Lodge.

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth N.P.: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest N.P. – Batwa Visit.

Watch the sunrise over the panoramic lakes George and Edward, breakfast, check-out and take an en-route game-drive as you exit Mweya Peninsular section heading to the Ishasha section that is renowned for the tree-climbing lions. We shall employ a network of trails in the southern circuit to create viewing avenues of the great predators hanging in Fig and Acacia Trees. After picnic lunch, proceed and follow meandering routes to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Settle-in at Gorilla Safari Lodge or Similar. We shall visit the Batwa Community this evening it time permits.

Day 4: Day to Track Mountain Gorillas.

A chilly and misty morning, wake-up and prepare for the summit of your Uganda Safari; the encounter with the critically endangered Gentle Great Apes!! Pack lunch, water and a rain gear and attend the briefing session to be conducted by the head-ranger. After, get hold of your walking stick, carry your lunch, camera and binoculars and follow our allocated ranger-guide into the gorilla sanctuary. Follow instructions as shall be given by the ranger, maintain silence and appreciated nature. On sight of the gorillas, keep calm and watch them feed, play, swing from one branch to another and fully exploit the strictly one hour allowed in their presence. Bwindi Forest is an ancient forest with a diversity of flora and fauna for you to see, feel and experience. Return to the launch site, receive your tracking certificates and take a ride back to your lodge for the rest of the evening. Possible Batwa Community visit if time permits.

Day 5: Bwindi-Kivu Serena-Boat-ride

Last moments in the domain of the Gentle Great Apes, breakfast, check-out and follow snaking routes via villages and trading centers to Kisoro town. Proceed to Cyanika border and after going through immigration procedures continue via picturesque Rehengeri and the cones in Parc National des Volcans. Arrive in time for lunch at Kivu Serena and relax in the early afternoon. Later in the afternoon, take a sunset-cruise on the pristine Lake Kivu to Coffee Island. Dinner and overnight at Kivu Serena.

Day 6: Kivu-Goma- Nyiragongo Hike

Wake up to a misty Kivu and savor the gentle breeze; breakfast at 0630hrs and depart for Gisenyi/Goma border at 0700hrs. After immigration procedures, proceed to Kibati Information Center for a briefing session. After briefing rally behind your allocated guides and rangers and embark on an approximately 7hr hike to the Nyiragongo (Boiling Pot) Lava Lake. At a height of 3470m above sea-level, its biting cold thus requires real hiking gear. Meals shall be served on the Mountain and overnight in the Cabins on the Mountain. Cabins have no beddings; we either rent or carry our own. Spend the rest of the night under the stars and watching the larva lake.

Day 7: Nyiragongo Descent-Gorilla Orphanage.

Misty morning atop Nyirogongo, exit your Cabin, have breakfast and embark on the descent to Kibati where your waiting guides/drivers and their respective vehicles shall conduct your transfer to Mikeno Lodge for Lunch. Later in the day, transfer to visit the Gorilla Orphanage. Learn about the plight of the gorillas and the various conservation challenges. Return and spend the rest of the evening relaxing at Mikeno Lodge – Virunga.

Day 8: Goma – Kigali – Genocide Museum.

This early morning, have breakfast, bid farewell to Virunga Conservation area and cross the border back to Gisenyi-Rwanda. Embark on a long scenic ride to Kigali with Lunch en-route. Visit the Genocide Museum and eventually settle-in at Serena Kigali. Dinner and overnight therein.

Day 9: Kigali-Bujumbura-Tanganyika Boat-Cruise.

Dawn breaks over Kigali Hills, rise early, have breakfast and transfer to Kayibanda-Kanombe International Airport to arrive on time for your onward flight to Bujumbura Burundi at 0830hrs. Arrive at 0915hrs, meet, greet and assist upon arrival and transfer to Club Du Lac Tanganyika. Check-in, relax and have lunch. In the afternoon, take a boat-ride on Lake Tanganyika. Spend the rest of the evening relax by Africa’s deepest lake.

Day 10: Bujumbura Tour – Departure.

Serene morning on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, have breakfast and get on board for the Bujumbura City Tour as well as shopping for Curio items/souvenirs. Return to Club du Lac Tanganyika for a hot lunch. At 1600hrs, depart the hotel heading to Bujumbura airport to arrive on time for your 1815hrs flight back home.
